Illuminating solar energy performance through transparency, education, and real-time monitoring
We envision a future where solar energy data is accessible, understandable, and actionable for everyone. By providing transparent photovoltaic performance monitoring and educational resources, we empower communities, researchers, and energy professionals to make informed decisions about renewable energy.
Founded in 2020 with a mission for solar transparency
SunTrack Network was founded in 2020 by a group of solar engineers and data scientists who recognized a critical gap in the renewable energy landscape: accessible, real-time performance data for photovoltaic installations across Canada.
Starting with monitoring just three solar arrays in British Columbia, we've grown to track over 150 installations across all Canadian provinces and territories. Our platform now processes millions of data points daily, transforming raw sensor readings into actionable insights.
Today, SunTrack Network serves as an educational platform, research resource, and monitoring tool for understanding how solar energy performs under Canada's diverse climatic conditions—from coastal British Columbia to the Arctic territories.
Five principles guiding our approach to solar education
We prioritize data accuracy through rigorous sensor calibration, quality control protocols, and transparent methodology documentation.
Solar data should be available to everyone—from students to researchers to industry professionals—without barriers or paywalls.
Complex data becomes meaningful through intuitive charts, interactive maps, and clear visual representations of solar performance.
Our insights are grounded in empirical evidence, historical trends, and statistical analysis rather than speculation or marketing claims.
We maintain editorial independence, presenting objective performance data without commercial bias or promotional content.
